Over the River

Being headquartered in South Florida,
it’s easy to forget that the majority of the nation
is in the grips of winter weather
while we rush to bundle up
anytime the temperature dips into the ‘60’s.

This stunning shot of our clients’ residence
was taken over the Nevasink River in New Jersey
during the holiday season.
We wanted to offer you a little taste
of what’s to come in a future blog
once we complete our installation
of this 6,200 square foot beauty.

Although the temperature outside may be frigid,
the interior is sure to be warm and inviting!

Mountain Retreat

Here’s another thrilling announcement from the headquarters
of P&H Interiors:
one of our beloved clients has contracted with us
to provide the interior design services for their new condo in Vail!

This project will be our first in the state of Colorado;
thereby allowing for interesting new design elements
that will complement the mountainous region.
In keeping with our clients’ wishes,
the rustic locale will set the stage for an eclectic blend of various woods and textures
that harmonizes sophistication with the panoramic summit.

This lodge retreat will become the family’s luxurious haven
by the spring of 2008. We just can’t wait to get started!

A Few New Things...

We are pleased to announce the execution of two additional Clubhouse Facility contracts for two local South Florida developers, as well as the completion of G.L.Homes’ Sunset Falls Clubhouse in beautiful Miramar, FL.
The modern, transitional design of the Sunset Falls Clubhouse showcases the clean lines that provide a fresh ambiance for this residential community in south Broward County.
The new clubhouse should be completed in late 2007 for the Ft. Myers location, and Port St. Lucie’s facility is anticipated for November 2008.

Still Rockin' 'n Rollin' !

Although it’s been almost 2 months since we participated in the American Red Cross Designer Showhouse, the media continues to sing it’s praises as evidenced in the May 2007 issue of The PalmBeacher magazine.
The popular photo of our Boy’s Bathroom drum and oversized drumsticks is featured in the story that begins on Page 68. The project is also currently featured in Broward Design Magazine Vol. 8, Number 3, on pages 68-75.
The fun and functional music-themed project really seems to have struck the right chord with our fans!

Crown Update Part IV

Although we began our work on this momentous project in the autumn of 2005, we are just now finalizing the finishing touches on the Crown installation. Part IV of our Crown History blog series brings us to the discovery and recreation of the “Wave bar” in the interior lobby.
During the process of designing the first and second floor lobby interiors, the Historic Preservation Board provided us with an article that contained a rendered photo from the 1940’s of the curved contemporary Wave bar as it first appeared.
Our mission now included the task of designing and recreating this beautiful masterpiece to pay tribute to the original creator. Our photos display the before, during and after phases of this Wave bar installation.
We are so delighted with the finished work of art!

Crown Update Part III

(The Crown Hotel in Miami today - Rendering provided by STA Architectural Group)

Working from distorted prints from the original architect proved to be the ultimate challenge for our lead designer Aeron Knutson. P&H’s Aeron and Jeff Gammill (the architect from STA) suspected wainscoting on the lower lobby elevation after careful study of an extremely dated print. After extensive research on their part, the former existence of wainscoting was confirmed from its mention in a 1941 newspaper article. All historical elements of this Deco-style building required confirmation in order to properly execute the successful implementation of this restoration.

The Crown Renovation

( Rendering provided by STA Architectural Group)

As we near completion of the installation for the newly-renovated Crown of Miami Beach, we thought we would share a little bit of history on this 18-story building that dates back to World War II. Located at 4041 Collins Avenue on the Atlantic Ocean & 41st Street, the originally named Lord Tarleton Hotel designed by Victor Nellenbogen opened in 1940 as the tallest hotel structure on Miami Beach.

The original cost of the 151-room building, including the ocean front property, was $750,000.00. It was also the first hotel on the Beach to feature all-corner rooms. Due to its historical significance, we were required to maintain the integrity of the initial building plan by researching the original finishes and materials used in the hotel and duplicating them for this extensive renovation.

Renovation=Rejuvination

( The Crown hotel in 1941)

We are busily preparing for the grand opening (scheduled for March 20th) at the newly renovated Crown Hotel in Miami Beach.

This historical building proved to be very educational for all of us. This extensive renovation demanded close attention to all historical details so that the integrity of the original design was not compromised in any way.

We just can’t wait to show it off!

Red Cross Showhouse

As the American Red Cross Designer Showhouse approaches its final weekend for presentation to the public, the unprecedented response by design experts and the public alike continues to soar.
Bank of America hosted a private party on Wednesday, 3/14, at this stellar Las Olas residence. In attendance were some of South Florida’s most affluent cream of the crop, intermingling with design professionals including P&H’s owner & president Susan Connor.
The Sun-Sentinel newspaper was also extremely complimentary about the house and the individual rooms featured in the article. The positive feedback from this tremendous project is almost overwhelming!
We are so proud to be a part of the best showhouse ever!
